Recycling and scrap centers of all types are prone to theft and vandalism, which cause losses not only due to theft, but also vandalism that renders plastics and other materials unusable for recycling. Precious metals are one of the largest sources of profit for the recycling industry and their theft averages over $1 billion a year.
Some areas of concern include:
-
Theft and Property Damage
-
Remote Facilities
-
Low-Light Areas
-
Trespassers
-
Outdoor Assets and Equipment
-
Liability
-
High Cost of Guards
Health and safety risks are another concern when trespassers gain access to recycling and scrap facilities after hours. Reducing monetary losses and preventing injuries requires the early detection and deterrence of suspicious and criminal activity.
Our advanced live remote video monitoring services are the solution to the ever-present security problems recycling facilities face.
Avoid Recycled Methods of Remote Video Monitoring.
The recycling industry requires innovative approaches to security monitoring with a system without the same pitfalls and recycled “solutions” traditional security companies offer.
Most security companies install hard-wired cameras that transmit video feeds to a monitoring center using traditional internet. These wired internet connections frequently suffer from slow network speeds that reduce image quality and drastically reduces monitoring effectiveness.
They also create a single point of failure in the security system. If internet connectivity is lost due to severed cabling, inclement weather, or internet provider issues, the integrity of the entire security system is compromised.
Our Innovative Approach.
We are the only security company on the market that has developed a proprietary communications platform that operates on a cellular network.

Unlike other video monitoring services available, our platform doesn’t require wired internet lines in order to secure recycling facilities. Our network transmission speeds are significantly faster which means higher quality video, and faster response times.
These speeds provide the bandwidth required to stream high-resolution video to our UL & ULC Certified Monitoring Center, without a loss in image quality. These transmissions are sent through the largest private MPLS network in the country. This ensures the privacy of your information and video streams, because the network is separate from public internet traffic. These full-resolution video streams play a critical part in capturing court quality evidence of criminal activity in recycling facilities.
In conjunction with our proprietary artificial intelligence analytics, our monitoring operators detect the presence of unwanted or criminal activity by utilizing the stationary cameras installed on our units. These high-resolution cameras provide a fixed view of vulnerable locations, and aid in the early detection of trespassers or unwanted individuals.
Our professionally trained operators take control of the PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras to zoom in on individuals to acquire identifiable features of a suspect, like facial features, clothes, and ethnicity.
Once suspicious or criminal activity is encountered, our operators use active deterrence techniques like warning off individuals with the two-way communications speaker in real-time. Not only does this provide a tool to deter theft, but can also advise the public of a facility’s operating hours to deter unauthorized dumping. All security units also come equipped with a blue LED strobe light as a visual deterrent, alerting trespassers to the presence of a security system.
Our proactive approach to remote video monitoring deters criminal activity before it happens.
Security Engineered for Recycling Facilities.
Recycling facilities require a flexible security system that covers a variety of areas vulnerable to theft, vandalism, and trespassing. syncroMonitoring’s suite of flexible security units are customizable to adapt to the specific needs of a business, and the layout of a property.

Standard equipped with one ultra-high-resolution PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera, with Diffuse Infrared tech for night vision.
A minimum of 2 high-resolution stationary cameras with Diffuse Infrared for state-of-the-art night-vision technology.
Blue LED strobe lights to deter intruders.
2 way-communication speaker, incredibly clear and reliable.
Internal expansion port for the integration of additional peripherals, like thermal cameras and license plate readers.
Standard video storage provides a minimum 21 days storage, with optional expansion up to 18 weeks.
Our wireless security units are small, lightweight, and designed to be the industry’s most modular and flexible system available. They are easily mounted to practically any surface and be live to our monitoring center within minutes. Our Pole Units are installed quickly to weigh-in stations, recycling bay structures, power and light poles, and tripods.
When a location doesn’t have a viable mounting solution for their site, Mobile Units are available. Our units are power saving, using less than 60 watts of power, and optional solar kits are available where power is unavailable.
All units are standard equipped with a high-resolution PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera, two stationary cameras, a blue LED strobe light, and a two-way communications speaker. Optional license plate reader cameras are available to capture the arrival and departure of all vehicle traffic. For poorly lit locations, we offer thermal camera solutions that detect criminal activity even in complete darkness.
Certified and Compliant to ensure uninterrupted service.
All high-resolution video feeds from our security units are transmitted live to our UL & ULC Certified Monitoring Center.
Our monitoring center is compliant with UL licenses 827A and 827B, meaning several levels of redundancy are in force to ensure the center is fully operational at all times.
In addition, our video security units meet CSA Inspection & SPE-1000 Compliance and NEMA 4X rated for all electrical and safety requirements when installed in recycling facilities. This ensures their operation is never compromised due to even the harshest weather or environmental conditions.
To protect the assets within your recycling facility, every second of security counts.
Investigations & Video Review

The safeguarding of recycling facilities and their assets goes beyond the standard monitoring hours of our security services. This is why our security units record 24/7 to collect court quality evidence, even outside of normal monitoring hours.
We provide an industry-leading 21 days, minimum, video storage that is accessible by our Investigations & Video Review team.
To investigate instances of theft, vandalism, unauthorized dumping, and weigh-in evasion, our team conducts thorough reviews of video footage at your request.
Once video evidence of the incident is reviewed, you receive a detailed report, including high-resolution photos and videos of the incident, and an event summary that includes a timeline of the incident.

This is Recycling Facility Security made simple.

Our reporting dashboard, syncroReports, provides you with real-time security statistics, live camera views and more. You can access this from any of your digital devices, no special applications needed. Get instant access to:

How's that for transparency?

The entrances to recycling facilities are controlled by weigh-in stations that experience high vehicle traffic daily. License plate reader cameras are available to be mounted in these locations to control and surveil vehicles arriving on site. Unlike other security companies who claim to offer a license plate reading system, our proprietary system intelligently captures and stores the license plates of all inbound and outbound vehicle traffic: syncroPlates.
syncroPlates provides the recycling industry with a searchable license plate database across all their locations.
Our license plate reader cameras work in tandem with our proprietary neural net to capture the alphanumerical values of a license plate, convert them into time, date and location metadata, and provide high-resolution photos of every vehicle that enters the property.
Once a plate is stored in syncroPlates, you have the ability to whitelist or blacklist any vehicle from entering your site. Previously flagged suspicious vehicles, or those confirmed to have been involved with criminal activity are blacklisted across all syncroMonitoring secured locations. In the event a blacklisted vehicle arrives, you are immediately notified of its presence.

Not only is syncroPlates a powerful resource when safeguarding assets, it also provides daily operations benefits to the recycling industry. Tracking the arrival of vehicles to specific recycling bays and weigh-in stations allows site personnel to identify parties responsible for incorrect material drop off, or those avoiding paying dumping fees.
We're the only company to offer this solution for Recycling Facilities.
